Why Eco Merch?
As a company founded in Far North Queensland, we are particularly mindful of the environmental and cultural significance of natural assets like the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.
Our focus on eco conscious products is a reflection of our values, ensuring that the choices we make today contribute to a healthier planet tomorrow.
Why do we say 'Eco Conscious' Merch and not 'Sustainable' Merch?
Where we choose to use the term 'conscious' to describe our merchandise, this relates to both the ethical and material nature of our products. We value transparency, which means we will not make claims of 'sustainability' if they cannot be independently verified in the supply chain or through certifications.

ACCC Guidelines and Greenwashing

Following ACCC guidance on environmental claims
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) warns against broad, unqualified terms like “sustainable,” “green,” or “environmentally friendly.” These words can mislead consumers by implying that a product has no environmental impact when almost all products use resources and generate emissions (accc.gov.au)
To adhere to this guidance, we avoid making blanket statements and instead provide specific information about how materials and products perform across three pillars:

-
Responsible Sourcing
-
Compostability
-
Circularity
Our impact calculator results and comparisons in our marketing collateral are relative, evidence‑based assessments intended to help you compare materials; they are not claims of zero impact. When we use descriptors such as “eco‑conscious” or “low impact,” we do so to signal that a material has better environmental performance in one or more areas compared with conventional alternatives.

A Growing Trend
The demand for eco conscious products is skyrocketing. Consumers, especially millennials and Gen Z, are more environmentally conscious than ever before, and they want to see their values reflected in the brands they support.
Nielsen's 2015 Global Corporate Sustainability Report, found that 66% of global consumers are willing to pay more for products from brands committed to positive social and environmental impact.
A 2024 Neilsen study indicates that 73% of millennials are willing to pay more for sustainable products, compared to 66% of the general population.
As a result, businesses can turn to conscious merchandise to strengthen their brand identity, showcase their commitment to environmental responsibility, and engage with consumers on a deeper level.
Why Eco Conscious Merch Works
Businesses that embrace conscious merchandising are seen as forward-thinking and responsible, increasing brand trust.
Companies that adopt sustainable practices are also better positioned to comply with emerging regulations and consumer expectations surrounding environmental responsibility.
